Jalan-jalan in Malay translates roughly to ‘walk about’ in English. It’s such a lovely local
way of describing an easy, informal day out, with the hope of making little discoveries
along the way, meeting up with old friends, and perhaps making new ones as well.
No one appreciates the benefits of going on a bit of a jalan-jalan now and then, better
than our very own CEO Tan Meng Dui.
Since joining HDB in February 2021, CEO has been taking time out to visit various HDB
offices/sites and projects. The mini visits allow him to get deeper insight into unique
operations and challenges, to meet our colleagues working at these offices or involved
in these projects, and to recognize their efforts and contributions in serving the needs
of residents and customers.
These walkabouts are the focus of the #CEOgoesjalanjalan series on Workplace. CEO
personally recaps each visit he makes with a short write-up and a few interesting photos
that capture the key highlights of his visit.
From dropping by our frontline offices, to getting a close-up look at award-winning HDB
developments in our estates, CEO's visits have put the spotlight on the #OneHDB spirit
in action, showcasing how different teams come together to deliver service and
innovation excellence.
CEO's jalan-jalan series has brought about another somewhat unexpected outcome -
it has created a compilation of learning journeys for the rest of us!
Through CEO, we were able to visit our colleagues at the Cyber Security Operations
Centre, to get a look at how it safeguards our systems and data. We were able to 'sit
in' on a briefing by our BRI colleagues on the capabilities of our Smart Hub. And
most recently, we were able to get a glimpse of and learn more about HDB's new
External Retractable Clothes Drying Rack - all from the comfort of our Workplace
app!
So, if you haven't had the chance to go jalan-jalan yet, check out the HDB FYI group
on Workplace - CEO's waiting for you to catch up!
